WordPress plugins have added features to provide creative freedom. Pro: Userfriendly, Con: Standard installation can pose many security issues
Joomla
allows its users to customize every inch of their site; works well with e-commerce sites, but requires heavy tweaking and the altering of its settings to get the site up and running. Pro:7,000 extensions(not quite sure what that means, but, OK), Con: Lack of quality themes offered to the users.
Concrete 5
is typically used for sites that require frequent changes to content; provides easy editing capabilities with respect to light tweaking of the site's design. Pro: Easy to convert to Html, Con: Plugins are expensive
TextPattern
uses textile to convert plain text into Xhtml syntax which makes it user-friendly for less technical users. Pro: Suited for all site sizes and contains a full online manual, Con: Offers fewer plug-ins than more popular CMS
Silver Stripe
suited for developers and designers who are comfortable working with code. They also provide tutorials for beginning developers, and an array of modules to help with blog sites, forms, and forums. Pro: Silver Stripe has been developed on open standards and works well with other CMSs, Con: Not everything in this system is intuitive in the back-end.
Umbraco
gives full control to designers and focuses on web standards with a complete open template system. It also provides starter kits and sites skins for faster start-ups of the site. Pro: Powerful/flexible for websites and intranets, Con: No demos available to try-out the software before downloading.
